3 Wheel Double Buggy
A great option for parents who wish to go off-road, the Fox 5 is a true all-terrain stroller. Its suspension is impressive and large, puncture proof wheels.
Claire, our tester, was impressed by the packaging. It was simple to open and clean. She found it to be one of the easiest and fastest pieces of baby equipment to assemble. She tried it on some rough terrain and was impressed by its performance.
Seats
Most 3 wheel double buggies are designed as single pushchairs. However, some can be modified to accept an additional seat by using adapters. There are also models let you add a ride-on board for older children who wish to walk but require some assistance.
Check out the Joie Evalite Duo for an ultra-lightweight option that is perfect for city streets. It's easy to maneuver and comes with a deep basket with plenty of storage space. It can accommodate twins from at birth and will accept two car seats, or a carrycot that has a seat. The seats must be facing forward and there is no room to store bags of groceries under the seat. You will require an extra sidepack.
Mountain Buggy Duet will be a good option for you when you love off-roading. It's a side-by- side with the most compact footprint of any double buggy that is available. This allows it to squeeze through doors that are narrow and on public transport, and allows you to climb up and down kerbs with no trouble. It also has a handbrake on the handlebar that can be adjusted for more security and safety.
The UPPAbaby vista 2 double is another lightweight option that is suitable for twins or a toddler and baby. The seats have multi-position reclining and UPF 50+ sunshades while the canopy can be adjusted to keep the sun from your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can even be transformed into a triple with the addition of UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack' board for mobile older kids.
The iCandy Orange is one of the most sought-after double buggies available, thanks to its superb comfort. It's a true all terrain pushchair, with soft suspension to make smooth work of bumpy surfaces. It has 30 different seating configurations as well as a built-in table for older children who like to walk, and a 'cinema' mode which raises the back seat for better visibility.
Alternately, the phil&teds dots is a brilliant single buggy that is available from day one which is then able to take 2 (or 3!) Multiple configurations are possible. This is especially useful if you have an infant in a car seat, since the frame can be fitted with a wedgie that allows for optimal lie-flat positioning, or car seat adapters for a wider range of brands.
Suspension
The suspension of a double 3 wheel buggy will determine how easy your child/children and you can push it. A smooth ride is crucial because babies feel every bump on the road, particularly if it's in rough terrain such as grass or dirt roads. Some models also have locking front wheels to help with maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.
Certain models have air-filled tyres, which provide a fantastic all-terrain adventure, but they could be prone to punctures, therefore, make sure you have a spare set in the trunk. Some models have gel-filled or foam-filled tyres which are designed to absorb bumps. They can be less likely to puncture, but they could be uncomfortable for your child if you choose to jog.
The side-by-side buggy is the ideal buggy for city walks. It features a fantastic suspension system that allows you to easily and comfortably navigate any terrain. You can even upgrade the duet by adding our dual kit in order to accommodate two children - all within the same compact footprint!
MFM reviewer Kath put the Urban Glide 2 through its trials with her infant and three years old, and found that it performed admirably on difficult terrains: "it navigated effortlessly over grass and bumpy pavements, cobbles and dirt tracks with ease and was easy to maneuver around corners and go up and down kerbs. The 16" rear wheels, combined with the lockable swivel wheel on the front, create a very comfortable jogging experience. The Urban Glide 2 has a lot of features, such as a large seat unit with padded cover as well as a hood that has 50+ UV protection, and rechargeable and easy-to use visibility lights.
Folding
A 3-wheel double buggy can fold pretty neatly to be stored. There are options that fold flat, stand up (as though they were in the shape of a pushchair) and others that are able to open up to reveal more umbrella-like folding that has the option of a hand-operated break. In general the more wheels a buggy has the more able it will be to handle on rough terrain. This is particularly true if your wheels are larger than the average size. You will have more stability, and it is less likely that you will have to tip over or flip your child.
The iCandy Wave is a popular choice. It can be used with an infant car seat from birth and then converted into a double buggy side-by-side when your child is old. It's a comfortable and light-feeling model which makes it easy to push, and it comes full of extra features including raincover and a bumper bar.
The phil&teds sports is another option. It is future-proof since it is brilliant as a buggy that can be altered to accommodate two (or three!) all within its compact footprint. It has an innovative three-wheel design that includes a sling for better manoeuvrability and stability.
This is one of the most comfortable double buggies for jogging with your children. It features a front wheel that can be locked, that will allow you to keep your balance on hills or off-road terrain. It features a big undercarriage, a movable handlebar, and soft suspension to provide a comfortable ride.
It's a light compact model that folds easily with just one hand. It's ideal for traveling. It is compatible with many infant car seats and has a handy undercarriage basket to store shopping. It's not cheap however, it does have several distinctive features, like its one-click folding and many extras, including bumper bars or raincovers.

Storage
One thing that a lot of people appreciate about a good triple wheeled double buggy is its storage capabilities. Certain models, such as the Roma Atlas, have a large basket and two zip pockets on the hood, where you can keep your keys and phone. It's also designed to withstand a bit rough terrain, making it a great choice for family walks or all-terrain strolls.
Other models, like the UPPAbaby Vista 2, offer plenty of space and ability to transport twins or two toddlers and a child. (This is made possible by their 'PiggyBack' board). It's the slimmest side-by-side double in the market and comes with some impressive tech including game-changing LED visibility lights on each side of the frame to increase safety in low light conditions.
For something different, the Joie Evalite Duo is a lightweight buggy that can accommodate twins from birth (it's facing the world and can be used in a lie flat position). 3 wheeler pushchair can be expanded to accommodate the additional seat, yet it weighs around 11kg, making it easy to lift and manoeuvre. It can also take the form of a car seat or a carrycot, so you get the best of both worlds and it will help your budget in the future since you don't need to invest in another buggy immediately.
